The Bird & Blend Tea Co. is “an eco-conscious, independent, people-focused, award winning Tea Mixology Company on a mission to spread happiness and reimagine tea” – As a Tea-Lover myself, this statement alone piqued my interest!
So, when my loose-tea cupboard was looking bare in October, I popped off an order to them, and I was not disappointed!
I ordered a number or loose leaf teas , each of which is vegan friendly, blended in the UK, ethical and earth friendly:
Herbal Caffeine free Teas

- Cold Weather Warrior Tea (Herbal)
One of Bird & Blend’s best selling teas, the Cold Weather Warrior Tea (containing eucalyptus leaves, aniseed, lemongrass, chilli, echinacea, peppermint) should be a staple in everyone’s winter tea collection! A warming tea, which gives you a hug from the inside, when you are feeling the winter cold/flu/COVID blues. - Gingerbread Chai (Rooibos)
I chose this tea as they deemed it one of their most loved teas – I could not agree more! Originally inspired by our Nordic neighbours and their love for all things gingerbread, their award-winning, spiced Gingerbread Chai has a rooibos base; with the delicious tastes of cinnamon, ginger and cardamom (basically everything which I love!), it’s the perfect warm treat – especially with Christmas just around the corner!
Green (low caffeine) Teas

- Toasted Apple Genmaicha Tea
As Bird & Blend’s unique twist on the classic Japanese ‘popcorn’ tea, this is definitely a tea which you will either love or hate (I do not recommend this tea if your preferences lean towards the sweater teas). Me, I LOVE it! - Gingersnap Green Tea
As a Ginger-Lover, this one was up the top of my favourite list! With enough sweet, fruity flavours (apple, mango, papaya) combined with my favourite fiery ginger, your taste buds are bound to explode! - Watermelon Splash Tea
This is one for relaxing in your garden, in the shade of a tree, with a book in one hand and this tea in the other! The website’s description says it all really – “A refreshing blend of green and white tea bursting with juicy melon and fruit flavours. A truly spring time tea, fresh and fruity and totally mouth-watering over ice.” - Blue Raspberry Tea
This one was a tad experimental for me – I have tried many Raspberry teas… and not enjoyed many of them, so trying this one was a wonderfully pleasant and fruity surprised! I will definitely be getting this again! AND. this tea is perfect for Cold Brewing (find out more about cold brewing here) or hot! - MojiTEA
This one is another tea for your garden relaxation – AND. this tea is perfect for Cold Brewing (find out more about cold brewing here) or hot! Combining Chinese green tea, peppermint, dried lime pieces, lemongrass and lime leaves, the tea offers a refreshing (alcohol free!) version of the Cuban classic “the Mojito” (admittedly, I like the “full fat” version of this too… LOL).
Black & Medium Caffeine Teas
- The Digester Tea (Pu’erh tea)
I bought this tea with the hope that it aided digestion after eating (especially important to me give the diverticulitis I suffered from this year…). Not only did the tea help me immensely, it tasted great! A refreshing and spicy flavour – perfect after a meal! - Chocolate Digestives Tea
OK, who does not love a Chocolate Digestives?! Anyone NOT understand why I added this one to my shopping basket? N0? Well, you will not be let down by this tea! Surprisingly unsweet, best served (in my opinion) black with a biscuit to dunk, this tea genuinely tastes like a chocolate digestive! (But if you are not in the mood for a sweet tea, give this one the wide birth until you are!)

Perfect Chai Lattes
Chai lattes are my favourite! These “spiced up” black teas they offer a warming blend of autumnal and wintery spices, which (when you combine a couple of teaspoons with warmed milk) make the most delicious latte! Tip: if you want to add some sweetness, add a spoonful of honey!.
- Spiced Pumpkin Pie Tea (Limited Edition)
As you can guess from the name, this wonderful blend of spiced pumpkin flavours (pumpkin, cinnamon, cloves, ginger & vanilla) shouts autumn! - Pumpkin Sticky Chai
Another Chai latte favourite – quite possibly the best Chai I have ever had (and that is saying something…)! This amazing Chai rivals the Chai in Hamburg (where I developed my taste for amazing loose teas) and even the Chai my mother brought by back from India! The blend of spiced pumpkin flavours (pumpkin, cinnamon, cloves, ginger & vanilla) cries out for you to curl up in a cosy corner, with a rug, book and chai at hand…. this tea is happiness in a cup!

How Eco-Friendly is Bird & Blend?
The choice of glass containers, tins or pouches was something I liked in particular – I got a mix, as I already have a lot of reusable containers, as the “Tea menu” expands and contracts on a regular basis.
But, what else to they do? To make a change, this company shows their progress in this area very transparently: they have a page on their website dedicated to their Eco-Pledges, such as:
- Eco-Friendly Packaging
- Across all of their stores, offices and warehouses they recycle as much of their waste as they possibly can in order to reduce the amount going to landfill. From shredding cardboard for packaging, to providing composting and return/recycling of cups, to the reuse boxes up to 4 times… even all their stores are fitted out as sustainably as possibly, and trees planted to replace wood used!
- Reduction of air freight transportation
- Use of green electricity
They are even trying to make your path towards a sustainable lifestyle easier, by rewarding your support of the environment, e.g. 10% off if you bring your own reusable straw or bring your own tin for refill, get a free drink and 50p off drinks for life, with the purchase of their BB Cups instore…. In fact, you can find every detail of their processes and packaging covered in detail on their Eco-Pledge page! If only all stores and companies would make such an effort!
