Brand Review: Ecover

Ecover is often promoted as an eco‑friendly household cleaning brand—but how sustainable is it really? This Ecover Brand Review: Is Ecover Really Eco‑Friendly? will help you understand what makes the brand stand out.

In this Ecover brand review, we take a closer look at its credentials and try to answer the question raised in the Ecover Brand Review: Is Ecover Really Eco‑Friendly?

I have been using the Ecover range of cleaning products for well over a decade now. While they never completely replaced my trusty powder laundry detergent (I sometimes felt clothes weren’t quite as clean as I wanted), they did replace my fabric conditioner and several other household cleaning products that I used regularly.

Ecover describes its approach as a holistic one, with people and planet kept firmly in mind. They state that they have strict standards for ingredient selection and assess more than a dozen attributes for each ingredient, including biodegradability, skin and eye irritation, and aquatic toxicity. On paper, this all sounds very reassuring and is discussed further within this Ecover Brand Review: Is Ecover Really Eco‑Friendly?

However, as with many “eco” brands, Ecover falls into what I think of as a starting point. In this Ecover brand review, I see their products as a starting point on a low‑waste or zero‑waste journey rather than a final destination..

Product Review: Lavandi Shampoo & Conditioning bars

Lavandi were kind enough to provide me with some of their Shampoo & Conditioning Bars for testing. I distributed these between myself ( Elderflower) and a friend (Joe) tried the Dandelion.

What I liked most is the fact that Lavandi are based in Northwich, Cheshire, where I live! Lavandi have seen the need for change and have created a range of recipes that are all-natural.

Product Review: Faith in Nature Coconut Conditioner

I first bought the Faith in Nature Coconut Conditioner before I fully committed to reducing my waste, and it’s one of those products that has stayed with me through several lifestyle changes.

This conditioner is designed for normal to dry hair and is made with organic coconut oil, giving it a rich, tropical scent without feeling artificial or overpowering. I used it regularly for over a year and found it left my hair feeling soft, manageable, and well-hydrated without weighing it down.

Product Review: Lavandi Soaps

Lavandi were kind enough to provide me with some of their soaps for testing. I distributed these between myself, my mother and Joe (a 20 year-old who wanted to try the Activated Charcoal soap in particular).

What I liked most is the fact that Lavandi are based in Northwich, Cheshire, where I live! Lavandi have seen the need for change and have created a range of recipes that are all-natural. Their soaps are made with a carefully curated combination of oils and butters, and their promise is that they are all completely free of harmful chemicals. All their products are free of the palm oil that’s often found in soap and body products. They are all Zero Plastic! Also, you can subscribe to deliveries on a regular basis.

Product Review: Lavandi Organic Vegan Lip Balm

Lavandi were kind enough to provide me with some of their Organic Vegan Lip Balms for testing. This is a product which I have absolutely loved. It has quickly become a firm favourite of mine.

One of the things I liked most straight away is that Lavandi are based in Northwich, Cheshire, where I (used to) live. I always enjoy supporting local, ethical businesses, especially those that genuinely care about sustainability and ingredient transparency.

Weigh of the World Chocolates
Cocoa Loco Chocolates at Weigh of the World

Product Review: Cocoa Loco Chocolates

Cocoa Loco Dark Chocolate Ginger

Chocolate is one of the world’s favourite foods (it’s definitely mine!), so I was absolutely delighted when my friend, Sarah, treated me to some Cocoa Loco Dark Chocolate Ginger (OMG LOVE ginger!) from my local zero waste shop a few weeks back! In fact, trying Cocoa Loco chocolates for the first time was a real treat.

That was it…. I was hooked! Since then I have continued to treat myself to these when I have been into the shop…. and then the Dark Chocolate Mango…. mmmmm REALLY love this chocolate! By the way, chocolates from Cocoa Loco are available in so many delicious varieties to choose from.

There’s something to suit everyone with white chocolate, milk and dark options – the dark ones are suitable for vegans. Weigh of the World have also got a number of other flavours, including Chilli, Raspberry…. and bars! With so much choice, it’s easy to see why Cocoa Loco chocolates are loved by many.

Product Review: Dingbats* Notebook

I had never heard of Dingbats* until Christmas Day 2020 when my best friend (sharing my love of notebooks/bullet journals, and knowing that I was working towards a Zero Waste Life – and blogging in the process), gave me a Dingbats* notebook as a gift.

In the pocket, at the back of the notebook, was a small leaflet, which briefly detailed their product ranges and highlighted key features (discussed below). I tried them, following the link on the leaflet to find out more, then my love affair with Dingbats* began… in fact, 3 months later I ordered a further 5 journals, as well as some lovely dual-tipped pens!!

Why? What makes Dingbats* different/better than the Moleskine notebooks, which I have used for decades?

If you’re trying to live more sustainably but refuse to give up beautiful stationery, Dingbats* notebooks might just be your perfect middle ground.

What truly sets Dingbats* apart is sustainability.
It isn’t an afterthought.
It’s built into every part of the product lifecycle.

In this Dingbats notebooks review, I share my long‑term experience using their journals as part of a zero waste lifestyle.
