Hello llamas,
If you’ve noticed things have been a little quieter than usual around Zero Waste Llama this September, I wanted to pop in with a quick update. I also wanted to offer an apology.
Sometimes, despite our best intentions, life simply gets in the way.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve had to focus more of my time and energy on my health and work commitments. As many of you will know from your own lives, there are seasons when even the things we love have to take a temporary back seat. The other thing that’s been quietly taking up a surprising amount of my spare time is a quilt I’ve been making for my cousin’s wedding. What started as a lovely handmade gift has turned into one of those projects that seems determined to take longer than expected. There have been moments when I’ve wondered if I’ll ever finish it!
Still, it’s a reminder of something I talk about on Zero Waste Llama quite often. Creating, repairing, making things by hand, and gifting something personal all sit at the heart of a lower-waste lifestyle. Even when it involves a few late nights, a lot of unpicking seams, and more than a little muttering at a sewing machine.
While I haven’t been publishing as much as I would have liked, I haven’t disappeared. Behind the scenes, I’ve been planning upcoming content. Moreover, I’ve been developing a new series on tiny sustainable habits (Watch out for more info on Thursday). I am also gathering ideas for future posts that I can’t wait to share with you.
One thing I never want Zero Waste Llama to become is another source of pressure, either for readers or for myself. Sustainability isn’t about perfection. Instead, it’s about doing what we can, when we can, with the resources and energy available to us.
This September has been a reminder that sometimes looking after ourselves, meeting our responsibilities, and supporting the people we care about is enough.
Thank you for sticking around, for reading, and for continuing to support Zero Waste Llama even when posting schedules don’t go entirely to plan.
Regular content will be returning shortly, and I have plenty of ideas lined up for autumn and beyond. Until then, be kind to yourselves, celebrate the small wins, and remember that imperfect progress is still progress.
Cath x
P.S. If anyone has discovered a way to make a quilt finish itself overnight, I’d love to hear about it… 🦙🧵
